Error Sending Email - Unable to Relay Email

(1992 views. Last Updated: 2011-05-13 12:19 PM)

Some email servers don't allow you to relay email from an address which contains a domain that is different from the domain where the form is located. For example, let's say you have a form on your domain called yourdomain.com and when this form tries to send an email to myaddr@anotherdomain.com, your website reports:
Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for
addr@anotherdomain.com in \www\home\myuser\FORMfields\src\FfForm.php
This happens because your email server will not send emails from addr@anotherdomain.com, instead it requires emails like addr@yourdomain.com. You can either:
1. Enable relaying on your email server or contact your hosting company to request that they enable relaying on your email server
2. Or, make sure all emails sent with your form come from addr@yourdomain.com
